A 3/4 in drive breaker bar for the times that you need to break loose a large bolt or socket. Using a breaker bar instead of your ratchet is always a good practice to flow. When trying to break loose that stubborn nut, the high force being exerted puts undue force on the ratchet mechanism, possibly resulting in damage or failure of your ratchet. We also find it easier to put an <a href="http://www.homedepot.com/p/LDR-Industries-1-1-2-in-x-10-ft-Galvanized-Steel-Pipe-315-112X120/100536541" class="inlineLink" target="_blank" title="Extension Pipes">extension pipe</a> on the end of a breaker bar than a ratchet.

This is the next level of ratchet and socket sets. There is no hiding that these are big sockets. Originally purchased out of necessity for a 41 mm socket used for a <a href="docs/testarossa_gearboxOilChange">Testarossa gearbox oil change</a>. This particular set consists of 17 metric sockets ranging from 19 - 50 mm. Made by Tekton, the sockets and ratchet seem solid, although the ratchet is not as smooth as a Craftsman or Snap-On.

This is the big torque wrench. Measuring in at 41in long and range of 100-600 lbs*ft of torque. We purchased this to tighten single wheel nuts, specifically on the Ferrari Testarossa. When tightening the single wheel nut (see our <a href="http://truedriverscar.com/docs/testarossa_singleWheelNut">Testarossa Single Wheel Nut Guide</a>), using this torque wrench gives us the piece of mind that we have tightened the nut such that it will not coming flying off while driving or that we overtightened the nut resulting ruined the threads.

This is the Craftsman 1/2" drive version torque wrench. When working on any car, we use a torque wrench to tighten any fasteners, especially when a torque specification is given. More so with many vehicles having aluminum parts, it is very easy to strip the threads on the soft metal. Properly torquing fasteners also gives us peace of mind that we have done the job properly and the vehicle is safe for the road and track.

As you have probably noticed, we are fans of Craftsman tools and this 42 piece hex and torx bit set is no different. The bottom line is that it works. The edges of the hex keys are strong and machined to high tolerance to prevent any stripping of bolts or studs. This fact becomes a big deal when working on classic cars when you just cannot afford to mess up a hard to find bolt.

When completing a <a href="docs/testarossa_gearboxOilChange">gearbox oil change</a> on the Testarossa, this is the tool to get the job done. To remove the filler plug on the oil sump, located at the lower centre rear part of the transmission, this modified 12 mm hex key makes it possible to clear the subframe. The process we used to modify the 12 mm hex key is described in step one of the <a href="http://truedriverscar.com/docs/testarossa_gearboxOilChange">Testarossa gearbox oil change</a>.

This is the complete Craftsman socket set. We became tired of purchasing smaller sets and always missing the sockets in between - they get you in an endless loop of buying small sets. Plus, it makes it easier when organizing your tool box drawers. However, this set does not include specialty sockets such as torx, hex key, or open sockets for hard to reach spots. It also does not include any ratchets.

This set of Craftsman socket extension bars are always useful. Various extensions from this set are used throughout the guides to get the hard to reach areas. Without these, many of the jobs could not be completed.

Since the Craftsman 299 Piece Socket Set does not come with ratchets, getting this set is a must. Craftsman tools are a reasonable price, solid quality and a life time warranty. The ratchet mechanisms work well and are smoother than many of the cheap ratchets.

These Craftsman rubber strap wrenches are great tools for loosening odd shaped items. Surprisingly, these wrenches work better than we thought. Specifically, they have been great for loosening oil filters (such as on the Ferrari Testarossa). These are one of those tools that comes in to save the day when the unexpected issue appears. It proves that sometimes the simplest of tools are the best. We have had these for a number of years and no issues with degradation of the rubber bands.

We have been using various Dremel tools for over 15 years now. The Dremel tool offers a wide array of attachments to help in those unusual jobs - especially when they are hard to reach jobs! It is also the perfect tool for doing quick modifications, like grinding off an edge to get the right fit when fitting replacement parts that are not perfect. We prefer to stick with using the AC powered versions (as opposed to the battery powered Dremel tools), since they provide plenty of consistent power for longer cuts, like modifying the An error occurred: Undefined constant "‘12mmHex’"

These are an eclectic set of adapters that will work for most situations. Specifically, this set was especially useful for the large drive size adapters it has - all the way 1" drive! A relatively simple tool that just works and has been no problem when using with an impact gun.

This torque multiplier was the final trick for removing the single wheel nut on the 1987 Ferrari Testarossa (see our <a href="http://truedriverscar.com/docs/testarossa_singleWheelNut">Testarossa Single Wheel Nut Guide</a>). This torque multiplier takes a 3/4" female drive input and outputs 3 times the force via a 1" male drive, to a maximum of 2,200 lbs*ft. Beware, other styles of torque multipliers (like this <a href="http://amzn.to/2HKw19J" class="inlineLink" target="_blank" title="Torque Multiplier (1:58)">torque multiplier</a>) does NOT work for removing the single wheel nut - yes, we tried. Another advantage to using this torque multiplier compared to a impact wrench/gun is that it reduces the chance of causing damage to the nut or threads.

Hill Engineering made an oil filter "socket" to specifically fit the oil filter on the Ferrari Testarossa. Personally, we did not need this since the rubber strap wrench got the job done well.

This is an absolute necessity if you plan to do any work on a 1985-1988.5 Ferrari Testarossa. This wheel socket is well made, and will save the finish on your wheel nuts. It uses a normal 3/4" drive.

Although it seems strange to purchase a leaf blower for washing your vehicles, this is a tool that you will wonder what took you so long to buy (at least we did). After doing the final rinse during a wash, using this to blow off water (especially in between body panels and lights) reduces the chance of water spots. It has also significantly reduced the amount of time we spend drying a car. Once you have a few layers of hydrophobic protection on your car, this blower will remove the majority of the water.

This vacuum is the Porsche of vacuums. Yes, it is hard to fathom spending this much on a vacuum, but we must say that it was well worth it. We had been on the fence about this vacuum for a few years - especially having trouble justifying the cost. Now that we took the plunge, we wish we had done it sooner. There are other vacuums that are more powerful, quieter, etc. but none that are this well rounded - hence our comparison to Porsche. </p> <p> The CT 26 is the smallest size in the CT series, while keeping the more powerful motor. It comes with a 11.5 foot hose, which enables us to reach all the way into the car while keeping the vacuum away from the body panels. It has a parking brake that prevents the vacuum from moving around - and yes, it actually works. With its variable speed motor, it has plenty of suction, while being quiet, for any job. It also has a HEPA filter, so it is not spraying dust everywhere. There is not much to say about jack stands other than safety. Along with the times of using these on their own, we also use them in conjunction with the QuickJack

This large oil pan is relatively generic. The main quality that we were looking for is a capacity greater than 16L - roughly the amount of oil drained from a Ferrari Testarossa. We do not want to have any risk of oil overflowing in the middle of draining the oil. The only draw back of a larger oil pan is that it does require there to be more clearance between the ground and the car. The QuickJack provides more than enough clearance through.

A 5000 lbs capacity portable lift that is able to lift a car about two feet off the ground. Importantly, this model (BL-5000XL) does align with the lifting points for the Porsche 991 and Ferrari Testarossa. The 5000 lbs lifting makes it versatile so that it can even be used on light trucks. Aside from having a full sized lift, this makes working on the car easier and less time consuming.
