Procedure Used

1. Following the method outlined in our Porshce 911 (991.1) Rear Bumper Removal Guide we removed the rear bumper to gain access to the engine air filter box. Porsche 911 (991) on rear bumper removal
2. Next we used T25 (Torx) socket socket to remove 7 of bolts securing the air filter cover on the top and each side. Porsche 911 (991) engine air filter change
3. With the filter cover unsecured, we tilted the filter cover down and then lifted out of the slots holding it in position to reveal the two engine air filters.

4. Noting the orientation of each of the air filters, we then removed each of the old air filters, and used a cloth to ensure that the air filter housing is completely clean and free of debris. A degreaser may be helpful if there is a particular build up on the housing.
5. Next, we installed the new air filters in the same orientation in which they were removed. They should only install properly in the correct orientation. Tip, using a Sharpie fine point marker, we write the installation date on the air filters to prevent any confusion. Porsche 911 (991) engine air filter change
6. Finally, we reinstalled the engine air filter housing cover by slipping in the bottom tabs and reinstalling the 7 cover bolts with the aide of a T25 (Torx) socket socket. Porsche 911 (991) engine air filter change
7. We returned to our guide, Porshce 911 (991.1) Rear Bumper Removal Guide to reinstall the rear bumper.
